Nominations for the 2026 Merkin Prize will open at 9:00 a.m. ET on Monday, August 4, 2025. Nomination deadline is Friday, December 5, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. ET.
Nomination Package Requirements
- Contact information for nominator
- Nominees’ names and organizations
- If available, please share contact information (email and/or phone number) for each nominee
- Summary of up to 50 words that names the technology and indicates how it has improved human health
- Summary of up to 150 words that explains the novelty, purpose, and clinical impact of the nominated technology
- Statement of up to 1000 words that describes in detail the development of the nominated technology
- Statement of up to 1000 words that describes in detail the past, current, and projected clinical impact of the nominated technology
- Statement of up to 1000 words that describes in detail the substantive & quantifiable contributions of each nominated individual or team and how they played critical roles in the development of the technology and/or the application of the technology to improve human health, such as prevention, diagnosis, or treatment
- If nominating individuals, a brief biographical paragraph of up to 300 words for each nominee, highlighting background, key accomplishments, and current positions. Although no formal limit has been placed on the number of individual nominees, more than four is discouraged except under exceptional conditions.
- If nominating a team, a list of names, titles, affiliations, and research areas of up to 50 members of the team.
- If individuals or teams other than the nominees have contributed in significant ways to the development of the nominated technology, a list of up to four who have made the most prominent contributions and a statement of up to 100 words of why each was excluded from the list of the nominees
- If nominating individuals, a full CV (or a link to a full CV) for each nominee
- List of up to ten articles that represent the work of the entire set of nominees and are central to the development or use of the nominated technology. Please provide citation information only; do not upload PDFs.
- Names and contact information of up to six knowledgeable individuals who could provide a critical evaluation of the prize-worthiness of the nominated technology, its clinical impact, and whether those nominated are the key contributors. Preferably, the recommended evaluators will not be employed by the same institution as the nominees or have collaborated with the nominees in the performance of relevant studies.
